Make Your Own Card Kit

Do you have friends who constantly admire your card making abilities and sigh, stating, "I wish I could create cards like you"? Do those friends use the excuse, "I just don't have enough time to do that stuff"? Well, how's about I help you become friend of the year by sharing an easy project that you can create for your admirers.

Sounds pretty tempting, doesn't it? Today, I'm sharing a card making kit! You know, like the ones you see at your local scrapbook store, with all of the bits and pieces, packaged up all nice and tidy for you. Except, those cost like a bajillion dollars. Why not make your own for pennies?

So, here are the steps you take. First, I had to concept what the final card would look like. I wanted to focus on something inexpensive and easy. I'm also the queen of versatility. Since there are varying levels of crafty awesomeness, I wanted to provide a kit that a newbie could use, but at the same time, a weathered crafter could take and adjust to make cards their own way. I'm holding onto the hexagon trend for dear life, so I utilized my MINI HEXAGONS set and the matching HEXAGON DIES from Clear and Simple Stamps. Here's what a finished card could look like:

Here's what I put into my kit:
  • 4 card bases that I outlines with a black pen
  • Several hexagons stamped with patterns
  • 4 sentiment hexagons, all different
  • black crystals and dimensional squares

Here's where the versatility of the set comes in. I've provided four DIFFERENT sentiments to choose from and I also included more hexagons than you would need to recreate the original. That way, if the recipient wants to add more or less in a different pattern, they can.

I wrapped it all up into a neat little box with a bow. Many people don't realize how easy it is to make your own boxes. I simply cut it to size, scored all of the edges at 1", folded and cut along one side of the corner.

And there you have it, a best friends forever kinda gift! Clear and Simple Stamps is featuring kits like this on their blog today in their Style Watch feature. I have to admit that this project was really fun to make. Get started now and you will have lots of friends lining up at your door.

p.s. These would be awesome to sell at a trade or craft show too

Have a great day!
